SITE HISTORY

Interested in how Passionate-Eye.Org began or how I got into designing websites? This is the place to begin. There's a lot of text, but if you keep reading you'll get the whole story. This section is updated as the history is made. ^.~

SITE BY SITE

My first website was given to me on my 12th birthday on January 6, 1994. It was a gift from my best friend Brandon (RIP) who had learned how curious I was about his website and decided to surprise me with my own. The site was called "La-La Land" and was at Angelfire.

La-La Land was a typical "newbie" site. I used linkware layouts and my content consisted of awards, webrings, link to others' sites, and adoptions. While I never used a PageBuilder I didn't understand that there were copyright laws. I didn't understand that people could actually make their own graphics for their websites and probably used a few things that I shouldn't have. >.< *hides*

I stayed at Angelfire for quite a while, even after Brandon passed away. >.< I guess I just couldn't bring myself to let go but as my knowledge grew so did my vision. *g* I wanted a site that would be able to house all of the coding that I wished to use and I began to realize that Angelfire had coding restrictions that I wasn't too thrilled about.

I moved from Angelfire to Tripod in 1998. I retitled my site to be "Mystique Illusions" and started fresh. At Tripod I had more space to work with and was able to experiment more with the coding. I discovered HTML help websites and realized that there was a whole other world of coding that I knew nothing about!

Mystique Illusions really gave me a chance to organize.. Throw out the animated .gif's and start learning tables, frames and graphical site maps. I was still using linkware layouts at this time but I was beginning to think about making my own graphics. I had no idea how it was done or even that I needed programs to do it. *g* Instead I concentrated on my content and began making Mystique Illusions into an Art Gallery. It housed art by Amy Brown, Jonathon Bowser, and Josephine Wall.

I stayed at Tripod up until 2000. That was the year that I discovered how horrid pop-ups were. *lol* So without knowing about any other options, I moved to Geocities where you could "at least close the pop-ups". *g* I changed my name to Wysteria a few weeks after moving in and really started to dive deep into coding.. IFrames.. Java.. HTML.. XHTML.. CSS, the whole 'bit'.

I began college in 2001 and majored in Multi-Media & Web Design at The Art Institute. From then on things just blew up! I received a copy of Photoshop and then Paintshop Pro for my PC. I had two classes that taught Photoshop and that's when I started making my own graphics.

In March of 2003, a good friend of mine, Kisla, who I had known from The Enchanted Ladies during the time that I was the Head Mistress, purchased her own domain and offered to host me. I was completely exstatic and will forever be in her debt!

I stayed with Kisla at White-Nenya.Net for four solid months. I was debating my career and wasn't sure if I wanted to do web design freelance afterall.. During those four months I decided to buy my own domain.

On July 10, 2003 I registered my own domain name at GoDaddy.com and purchased my hosting package at Host4Students.com. On July 23, 2003 I opened my new domain at Passionate-Eye.ORG and have continued to renew it since. :)

In October 2004 I decided it was time to take a break from the internet. My life was so busy during that time that it just wasn't fair to my site, myself, or my visitors to try to keep it up. So, I went on a little "vacation". *blush*.. A year later in October 2005, I returned ready to start anew. Being that I had continued to pay for my domain name, I was able to pick right back up where I left off.

June of 2006, Host4Students.com sold their company to someone else and everyone that was there before the big sell was asked to move.. So I picked up and moved to SpeedFox. I can't say that it's great but my husband chose it because it was cheap.. so I guess you get what you pay for! Needless to say, when our package runs out, we have no plans to renew with this current crap of a company.
